ECO-STREETWEAR

Eco-streetwear at THE SUBTROPIC

ECO-STREETWEAR IS THE FUTURE!

That's why THE SUBTROPIC is taking steps to make sure we're part of the organic journey. We only produce items we get an order for, avoiding textile waste from overproduction. Our printing partner's top-end printing tech creates almost no wastewater and uses less energy.

What's more, our clothing manufacturers act with total care for the environment. For instance, one of our tee manufacturers, Bella + Canvas uses solar energy, limits water use, and recycles waste by-products to make sure their products can sport the eco-friendly tag.

ECO-PROJECTS

Currently, with every piece bought from THE SUBTROPIC, you are supporting our 3 Eco-Projects across the planet. Firstly, our project with the Eden Reforestation Project to reforest an area of the Madagascan MangrovesWith each purchase made, a tree is planted and protected in Madagascar.

Secondly, our Carbon Neutral Shipping Offset programme is supporting the Water Purification Project in Khum Longvek, Cambodia. By filtering water instead of boiling it over a wood burning fire, these purifiers prevent 90,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.

Thirdly, THE SUBTROPIC is donated 15% of all its profits to Stump Up For Trees between 2020-2021Stump Up For Trees is an ambitious, developing charity focused on woodland creation and enhancing biodiversity in the Brecon Beacons area of south-east Wales. The charity is planting one million trees, principally on marginal agricultural land, using innovative public-private funding initiatives.

Lastly, THE SUBTROPIC now donated 2.5% of its sales to Sea Shepherds UK between 2022-2023. Sea Shepherd UK is a registered marine conservation charity whose primary mission is to end the destruction of habitats and illegal killing of wildlife around the UK's coastline and across the world’s oceans in order to conserve and protect marine ecosystems and species.

ECO-PRINTING TECH!

THE SUBTROPIC clothing is printed with the direct-to-garment (DTG) printing method or meticulously embroidered. The printing tech we use is made with the environment in mind, and our DTG printers use almost zero wastewater and less energy, lowering our carbon footprint.

The inks we use for printing are water-based & free of harmful chemicals. We take care to dispose of any left-over ink according to the ink supplier guidelines, so we’re not harming the natural environment.

ECO-PRODUCTION TIMES!

Each product you see in our catalog is made on-demand, which means once you place the order, we start working to get it to you. It takes time for us to create and send out the product, but making each order on-demand allows us to avoid overproduction. This way we're all part of the slow, eco-fashion movement!
